(1) There are several sites mentioned on these pages but that does not mean that there is free public access to them. Please check with landowners before visiting.

(2) Old mining sites and quarries are dangerous places. Please keep a good watch on children and pets and be careful. Never venture underground unless you have the right equipment and you know what you are doing.

(3)  Some sites in Devon and Cornwall are known for Adders. They will probably be more scared of you than you are of them and attacks are rare. Keep a watch out and a close eye on children and pets. If bitten seek immediate medical  or veterinary attention.

(4) Never trespass on the railways. It can kill.

(5) Some of the minerals listed on this site are poisonous or radioactive. Treat them with respect and wash hands carefully before eating.

(6) Some of the natural history species listed are heavily protected by law. Do not collect, disturb or otherwise interfere with them. Selling of species is prohibited.

(7) The images used on this site have come from many sources. If you object to an image please contact me via the Contact link on the links page and I will take the image down
